Intervention teams in Mozambique

Two teams from Águas de Portugal Group are in Mozambique to support national authorities in the processes of restoring the water supply systems in Beira.

Once the rescue phase is over, now the priority is focused on providing medical care and controlling the risks of epidemics. Thus, supply of potable water to the population on affected areas is essential.

The field mission of AdP experts aims to assess reconstruction needs for Beira centralized water supply system, and to evaluate priorities for intervention.

This mission also includes the installation of a compact WTP in an outlying district of the city of Beira. The WTP will provide drinking water for 300 families who at present do not have access to potable water, with high risks of proliferation of water-borne diseases. Águas de Portugal experts will train the local authorities staff to ensure the autonomous operation of the facility.
