Águas de Portugal signs the emission reduction commitment

Águas de Portugal (AdP) reaffirmed its commitment to the transition to a low carbon economy by signing up to the “Business Ambition for 1.5ºC” launched by the United Nations Global Compact, which seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute towards planetary sustainability.

Unveiled last September by the United Nations Global Compact and already signed by the CEOs of various of the world’s leading companies, the “Business Ambition for 1.5ºC” is a letter of commitment that encourages companies across the globe to design and implement concrete measures for combatting climate change, establishing goals and objectives for the reduction in emissions to ensure zero net emissions through to 2050 and limiting global warming to 1.5ºC by 2030.

In signing this letter, companies publicly assume a commitment to aligning their decarbonisation plans with the ambition to limit – or mitigate – global warming.

Águas de Portugal and EPAL, Águas de Portugal Group companies, thus joined the group of 21 companies (19 Portuguese and 2 Spanish) that subscribed to the "Business Ambition for 1.5ºC", in a commitment made during the conference "Making Global Goals Local Business - Iberia" that took place on 6 November, in Culturgest, in Lisbon.
