EPAL launches the Siza – Lisbon Soul bottle

EPAL and the Hotel Association of Portugal joined together to promote the consumption of tap water in the city of Lisbon with the launch of a bottle designed by the renowned architect Siza Vieira.

EPAL and AHP – the Hotel Association of Portugal have teamed up with the objective of promoting the excellence of tap water in the city of Lisbon to national and international tourists.

With this objective, the company that supplies water to the city of Lisbon and the national association for the hotel sector have just launched a glass bottle with the signature of Álvaro Siza Vieira, which may be acquired in participating hotels and in the EPAL Museum of Water.

This initiative also takes place within celebrations of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism, contributing towards the promotion of tap water consumption as an environmentally sustainable and economically accessible practice able to enhance both social wellbeing and economic development.

The Siza - Lisbon Soul Bottle was formerly presented on 11 July at a ceremony that brought together at the Mãe d’Água das Amoreiras Reservoir the Minister of the Environment, the State Secretary of the Environment, the State Secretary of Tourism, the Presidents of EPAL and AHP and the architect Ana Silva on behalf of the Siza Vieira.

The piece stands out for its distinctive geometric lines inspired on the architectonic heritage of Lisbon with a focus upon one of its most emblematic monuments – São Jorge Castle -, positioned as an iconic item over a captivating narrative rooted in the founding legend of the city.

Produced in glass by the leading national manufacturer - Depósito da Marinha Grande -, and presented in a box made from nationally sourced wood and signed by the architect, this correspondingly values the raw materials, design and industry of Portugal.
